Home Owner Tips

The following tips are intended as guidance to promote safe and efficient HVAC systems. Please give us a call if you have any questions regarding your HVAC system or this advice. We do not charge for telephone assessments and can go through the troubleshooting together.

  1. Always check your thermostat setting. A common homeowner mistake is placing the thermostat on the wrong setting, i.e. - cooling or heating.
  2. Filters should be cleaned once a month. A clean filter will promote optimal airflow through the HVAC system.
  3. Install and check all smoke and carbon monoxide detectors on a regular basis. Changing the batteries at daylight savings is a good way to remember.
  4. Have the heating and air system serviced twice a year. We offier service contracts for $180.00 per year. Please see the Service Plan area for more detailed information.
  5. If either the indoor or outdoor HVAC unit is frozen, please turn the system off at the themostat or breaker box to allow the system to thaw. Contact Davis Ford for further assistance.

Remember that an efficient HVAC system will last from 10 to 15 years with an average cost to install from $5000.00 to $10,000 (depending on size.) Over 15 years, a high efficiency system will yield significant savings in energy costs and provide comfort and dependability. Given that the majority of a family's time is spent indoors, a safe and reliable HVAC system is essential..
